PCF8574A I2C Port Expander

PCF8574A I2C Port Expander IC chip is an 8-bit input/output (I/O) port expander which will allow you to add another 8-bit bi-directional port to your microcontroller. Very useful when you are running out of ports. Can be used to drive leds, LCD screens etc.

The PCF8574A provides general-purpose remote I/O expansion for most microcontroller families via the I2C interface [serial clock (SCL), serial data (SDA)] and is designed for 2.5-V to 6-V VCC operation.

The device features an 8-bit quasi-bidirectional I/O port (P0–P7), including latched outputs with high-current drive capability for directly driving LEDs.
